3 and 4 years
Imagine That!®, a Kindermusik® curriculum, provides a carefully integrated curriculum of music, movement and pretend play where your child's unique interests will be fully engaged in an environment that invites the development of the whole child - allowing for curious young minds, bodies and voices to reflect, compare, make choices, express opinions, solve problems, sing and move. Even as a structured lesson plan is always present, but not obvious, each class will be totally different as these 3 and 4 year olds contribute their own ideas and views of the topic at hand. Centered on the philosophies of Piaget and Vygotsky, this kind of learning is called constructivism. Constructivism allows the children to be active participants in the learning process, giving them the opportunity to be designers with all of that boundless creative energy of their own class experience.
Each curriculum will be complemented with additional Dalcroze activities. We will continue to approach the basic musical concepts addressing the whole child, mind-body-spirit, but now to a young child who is exploding with energy, imagination, energy, language development and more energy.
Imagine That!® Curriculums are comprised of four different thematic 15 week sessions that may be taken in any order: See What I Saw, Trips I Take-Toys I Make, Hello Weather, & Cities!
We have a special arts enrichment course, Confetti Days for our 6 week Summer Session. Using an integrated approach, music is woven throughout the curriculum with movement, art, language, story telling and dramatic play resulting in many multi-sensory experiences for the student. The student now attends the first 45 minutes of class without an accompanying parent/caregiver. Parents/caregivers and other family members (siblings) join the class for "Sharing Time", the last 30 minutes for hands-on arts and crafts "creating
Please note that the class size is limited. Placement in a class is given upon a first-come, first-serve basis REGARDLESS of prior attendance in a class. Each class is 60 minutes with parents/caregivers participating during the last 15 minutes. Please allow sufficient time for arrival (bathroom, coats, etc.) and departure.
| Class: | Monday 2:00 • Tuesday 1:00 • Wednesday 2:00 • Thursday 2:00 • Saturday 11:30 |
| Prerequisites: | No curricula requirements. The student needs to be able to attend the first 45 minutes of each class without an accompanying adult. |
| Adult Participation: | Parents/caregivers and any siblings join the ongoing class for the last 15 minutes for "Sharing Time". |
| Materials: | For each of the different sessions, each child will receive a 2 CD digipak, a theme instrument, a home activity songbook, interactive theme-based manipulatives, two children's literature book and a backpack in which to carry it all. The summer session has its own special materials. |
| Sibling Policy: | Due to the specific design of these curriculums, each child must have his/her own set of materials, thus a sibling discount is not available. Because of the limited size of the class, sibling visits are discouraged. |
