Cynthia Stephens Stoop has a performance degree with honors in cello as a major and a minor in piano, graduate work in string pedagogy, graduate cello study with the late Andre Navarra in Detmold, Germany and Sienna, Italy. She studied Suzuki violin and cello at Ithaca College and Catholic University and Suzuki piano with Mary Craig Powell at Capital University. She has performed with many orchestras, chamber orchestras, and chamber groups in the United States, Germany, and England. She is trained, licensed and certified to teach Suzuki cello, piano and violin. Ms. Stoop has successfully satisfied all training requirements to be a licensed teacher of Music Together®, Kindermusik®, and Musik Garten® . She continues to attend teacher-training workshops to stay abreast of new research and development in early childhood music and movement as well as continuing to sharpen her own skills. She maintains a private teaching studio for cello, piano, and chamber ensembles. Ms. Stoop credits and honors Professor Emeritus of cello, Leighton Conkling and violinist/ teacher/conductor, John (Giovanni) Smarelli for instilling and nurturing the love of music and music making in her life. Cynthia also thanks her parents for their support of all the years of lessons. Together with her husband, Dr. Christoph A.C. Stoop, the Stoops have created and founded a non-profit arts-enrichment entity, The Center for Music, Movement and Art, Inc.
